About Favicon Generator
Favicon Generator creates small website icons from your image with a dedicated 1:1 crop workflow. Adjust the crop, preview the result at real favicon sizes, and download a multi-size favicon.ico or PNG files.
How to use Favicon Generator
- 1
Choose a PNG, JPG or WebP image.
- 2
Move and resize the 1:1 crop area around the part of the image you want to use.
- 3
Choose the favicon sizes you want to generate. Sizes larger than the source crop are disabled to avoid upscaling.
- 4
Choose transparent output or a solid background color.
- 5
Check the 64, 48, 32 and 16 pixel actual-size previews and the browser-tab preview.
- 6
Download favicon.ico or a ZIP containing the selected PNG sizes.
Tips for better results
- Simple logos and bold shapes remain easier to recognize at 16×16 than detailed artwork or small text.
- Use the actual-size preview before downloading; a design that looks clear at 64px can still become hard to recognize at 16px.
- Start with a source image that is at least as large as the biggest favicon size you need.
Frequently asked questions
Does the generator enlarge small source images?
No. A favicon size is enabled only when the selected source crop contains at least that many pixels, so the tool does not upscale the image.
Which sizes are included in favicon.ico?
The ICO file contains the available 16×16, 32×32 and 48×48 PNG representations.
Can I choose which part of the image becomes the favicon?
Yes. The crop is fixed to a 1:1 square and can be moved or resized before generating the favicon.
Can the favicon keep transparency?
Yes. Transparent output is the default. You can also choose a solid background color.
